A little red building
Squat and square
Its outsides a beauty with a mix of design
Is little more than a front
For the treasure hidden within
In the city of Madras
Once the British
Decided instead of teaching their own thaimorzhi
Their officers would benefit
From the local languages
So on College road
By river Cooum
They built up an institution of red bricks and stone
A mish mash hodge podge design
But by no means ugly
They started with reference
To the flora and fauna
Found all around the neighborhood and the country
And soon it expanded
To literature, magazines, so many!
Its been 2 centuries now
The library's grown
From fiction, non fiction galore
Starting at 200
They are at 74000
This little red building
Squat and square
Now houses books beyond compare
Aristotle and Newton
Are a few examples
Wonderful post! I enjoyed reading it and the photo too.
